Spotlight: iPhone/iTouch Applications for Education

Apple Inc. has released iTunes 7.7 which, among other features, now gives access to the iTunes App Store for downloading applications on your iPhone or iTouch device. There are a lot of excellent applications available and a whole section dedicated to Educational apps. From stargazing to note-taking we are going to cover some of the highlights.

Asides

  • TeenLiveDrive offers video downloads for your computer, dvd, or even iPod that allow you to follow along as teenagers experience difficult driving situations. Great way to utilize new technology for a driver's education class. #
  • Google has released an alter ego of Second Life by the name of Lively. Windows only for the time being. #
  • While perusing delicious, I came across A Farmer's Market of Healthy & Productive k-12 Internet Resources.  I couldn't wait to share this with readers!  As I begin planning professional development opportunities for my teachers, I will use this as a resource. #
  • If you're just getting into basic addition you could make it more fun by generating custom store receipts online. #
  • Teachingtips.com has posted 100 + resources for teaching without textbooks.  So toss out consider pairing some online resources with those textbooks and GO! #
